Players need to tone up their temperament: Zaheer Abbas

Karachi :  Pakistan s former prolific Test cricketer Zaheer Abbas feels that Pakistani cricketers lack in proper temperament, which was the prime reason they performed miserably and conceded a massive 209-run defeat at the hands of hosts Sri Lanka in Galle in the first match.

It was a very poor performance from Pakistan and they did not only lack in the fielding but their batting and also bowling were below par throughout the match,  Zaheer Abbas told PPI.

Our players failed to understand the difference between the three formats and they failed to grasp the different requirements of the Test matches. Tests require good temperament and the players have to take responsibility and stay on crease, which unfortunately our players failed to do.

Tests require great focus and if a team fails to perform in an inning then they get a chance while bowling and they also could bounce back in their second inning but our team failed to capitalize on any of such opportunity during the match,  he added.

He lauded the Sri Lankan batsmen, who stayed on the crease and accumulated runs to eventually beat the visitors.  Their bowlers also did well while our players struggled throughout the match so therefore they deserved the victory.
