London, Disgruntled England batsman Kevin Pietersen is concerned that even if he apologises after his showdown talks with Andrew Strauss there is no way back into the England dressing room, as attitudes towards him have hardened.
Pietersen is hoping for a reconciliation that will return him to England colours as soon as possible.
Recent comments from England players and the team management have led the 32-year-old to fear the worst, The Daily Mirror reports.
Pietersen lacks support where it matters namely the England dressing room and at Lord’s.
And, his decision to head to the World T20 as a pundit when he is trying to rebuild bridges, has gone down particularly badly, the paper reports.
Pietersen was exiled by England after he angered captain Andrew Strauss and coach Andy Flower by sending text messages containing criticism of the duo to South Africa players.
The 32-year-old is also reported to have made England debutant James Taylor feel unwelcome when he joined the squad, prompting an unnamed senior player to become embroiled in a row with Pietersen.
The England and Wales Cricket Board remain tight-lipped about the prospect of Pietersen returning to the fold any time soon.
