It is a wakeup call for Pakistan: Younis Khan

Karachi, Conceding a massive 94-run defeat at the hands of Australia, which have many new players in its fold, is certainly a wake-up call for Pakistan ahead of World T20 Championship, feels former skipper Younis Khan.

It is certainly a wake-up call for Pakistan,  said Younis Khan, who led Pakistan to its only World T20 Championship title campaign in 2009.  The team should learn from the defeat and go into the World T20 Championship with proper plans.

Younis said that Hafeez should use his bowlers and batsmen properly as the tables in a T20 match turns rapidly.  You have to be alert and use your cards promptly prudently at the right time in a T20 match.
The team should also learn to handle pressure and plan properly for different situations,  he added.

Meanwhile, legendary batsman Javed Miandad said that Pakistani batsmen failed to read the pitch and were also too reactive to the situation.

A T20 match is not only about hitting the ball hard. In a T20 match, a player must also stay on crease to accustom the situation rather than losing his wicket as we have seen how we lost our wicket one after another,  he said.
He said that the players must take into consideration the fact that the players must respond to difficult situation rather than react.

We have seen what happens when a team reacts to a difficult situation rather than responding to it. We lost our wickets regularly with none of the batsmen playing responsibly,  he said.

Australia posted a total of 168 runs for Pakistan to conquer in the last match of three-match series in Dubai, which Pakistan had already won after winning in the first two matches.

However, surprising after impressive showings in the first two matches, Pakistan s batting line struggled and collapsed after scoring a measly total of 74 runs.

After seeing Pakistan beating Australians in the first two matches, I was expecting something better from them. However, a 94-run defeat was very disappointing,  said former captain Aamir Sohail.

The batting-line completely collapsed. The team should take a lesson from the defeat before going to Sri Lanka,  he said.  Pakistan should go in the mega event with the right combination of batsmen.

He said that there was no dependable bowler in Pakistan cricket team except Saeed Ajmal.  The team should ponder over this aspect also as a team need to excel in all departments to perform in such a big tournament.
