London: England cricketer Liam Plunkett has been banned from driving for a second time on Wednesday, after admitting to driving at twice the legal alcohol limit in his sponsored Jaguar XJ.
Plunkett, who is currently injured, was banned from driving for 40 months, fined 1,000 pounds and must pay 100 pounds costs.
In 2007 he was disqualified for 20 months for a similar offence and took a drink-awareness course, The Daily Express reports.
Magistrates at Peterlee, Co Durham, heard that police stopped the bowler at 5am on July 28 near his Durham home. He had taken a taxi home from a night out but drove to buy food after feeling hungry.
Chairman Jeff Gray gave Plunkett a chance to cut his ban by 10 months by taking a second course but warned he could be jailed if he drove while banned.
